Massive bag of Flatulence Overwhelms County
Stinks up entire State.

An enormous, gaseous cloud of nauseating hot air entered the local atmosphere with the election of Richard Rothschild. Allowed to trip into office by a group of soft brained residents in the Taylorsville area, the burden of his stench has grown weekly over the past four years as he has pontificated on every imaginable topic and politicized the Commissioner’s office beyond recognition.
Beginning with an assault on sustainable practices in County government he championed the spending of over $40,000 on an anti-science, anti-planning conference held in Pikesville and then had the nerve to attempt to charge county residents to attend. The conference was later recognized by the State Attorney General’s Office as an illegal closed meeting. Among the speakers Rothschild paid to attend the conference was the infamous Earl of Baloney and climate change denier, Lord Christopher Monckton.
Rothschild has ethically abused his office by using his staff assistant, Kathy Fuller, and the county communications network to publish his political ramblings. He has tried repeatedly to politicize the County’s forthcoming Master Plan with his tired, repetitious power point presentations, wearing out his welcome with both Planning Commission members and the public. He has spread his stink throughout the state by forcing himself on elected officials in the MD Association of Counties and the General Assembly, as if he were elected to state office.
He remains the only local elected official, save the Sheriff, to wear a pistol under his jacket daily.
Among the numerous issues he has wasted taxpayer funds on (in addition to the anti-science buffet) is $10,000 to a local attorney to defend him against an ethics charge tens of thousands of dollars in wasted staff time as he ran them in circles attempting to humor his wild imaginings; tens of thousands of dollars on hiring a lobbyist that has produced only negative results for the County; stashed hundreds of thousands of dollar away in the budget as a legal reserve to intimidate citizens from suing him and the Commissioners for unethical behavior; and wasted tens of thousands of dollars to hire ambulance chasing lawyers in a foolish attempt to block the federal repermitting of the Conowingo Dam.
He alone has refused to file a complete and honest Financial Disclosure report with the County Attorney while spending over a year resisting any change in the County Ethics Law to meet State legal requirements for counties. The State law requires county officials to fess up on the real estate holdings of the office holder and their spouses. Given his engagement in a shoddy Baltimore Real Estate practice one can only conclude he is avoiding disclosure to hide conflicts of business he has with county matters. Meanwhile he has loaded up the membership of the County Ethics Commission with political buddies who would shelter him from any citizen complaints.
Relief from this hideous malodor is fortunately within sight with the November 2014 election. While he still maintains the support of the soft brained set in Taylorsville, however, the rest of his district, indeed the entire county, has grown tired of his stench.
